Baby Blessing

I know, it's been over a week since we blessed Joshua but we've both gotten a cold which is no fun for anyone within a 1 mile radius of our apartment.

Anywho, lets get down to the nitty gritty. Baby blessings in our church are somewhat like christenings in the Catholic church, except not really at all. There's no baptism, no holy water...actually the only similarities are that Mormons usually buy christening outfits to bless their babies in. What happens is the baby's daddy "gives a name and a blessing"--the baby's name is announced and then a blessing--kind've like a prayer is given to the baby. The blessings are individualized for each baby. It's a really awesome ordinance that my church does.

So, because the blessing is a big deal all of Joshua's grandparents and his 3 of his 5 uncles came to participate and watch. Sadly my oldest brother Jason was teaching a technology seminar in Saudi Arabia (why does that sound like a lie?) and my next oldest brother Eric was at a rehab in Arizona (no don't get uncomfortable! It's a good thing!)

It was a really beautiful blessing and here are some highlights that Joshua was blessed with:

• The first thing Cam blessed him with was athletic ability. Haha totally cool, and true
• Cam also blessed him to have a love and respect for me as his mother

pretty awesome.

So Sunday was the pinnacle of a week long party with family in town to celebrate. It was such a blast and I was so stoked that J could finally meet his uncles Brett and Cory.

Unlike normal babies who wake up by rolling over and crying, Joshua does this crazy stretch routine for like 5 minutes before he realizes "oh...i'm awake, feedmefeedmefeedmefeedme"

He also had a good chatting session with Cory. He pretty much loved all of the Jones men.

3 generations. Enthralled with his Papa Bear (Casey! I declared you Papa Bear!) During his blessing Joshua stared at Casey the entire time. Cuties.
